Reduce/Eliminate Veins | FAQ's

Reduce/Eliminate Veins
Telangiectasia and rosacea are the terms used to describe any superficial blood vessel of the skin visible to the human eye.  Unfortunately, most will find that telangiectasia is generally progressive although some experience a sudden stabilization when it is in its early stages.

Fortunately, we feature a laser treatment that is capable of fading, reducing or entirely eliminating these potentially unsightly or bothersome veins.  This treatment delivers a combination of wavelength, fluence and long pulses that are required to effectively treat veins up to 3 mm in diameter.  Our careful treatment of each vein can achieve excellent results while seeing the surrounding skin largely unharmed.

It is important to understand that this treatment is not a cure for vein disease and multiple treatments at 6 to 8 weeks are often necessary.  While this particular treatment can be uncomfortable to many patients and has been compared to a “hot rubber band snap” most patients do in fact tolerate this quick procedure with nothing more than our cooling device.  A topical anesthetic may also be used prior to treatment to help alleviate additional discomfort.

FAQ's

1. How painful will the procedure be?
Clients describe the feeling as a hot rubber band snap.  We utilize cold which greatly reduces any discomfort.

2. Will there be downtime?
We ask that you refrain from strenuous activity, hot showers, saunas and anything that will dilate your blood vessels (such as alcohol) for 24 hours post treatment.  It is possible that these activities can decrease the effectiveness of your treatment.  Your compliance is greatly appreciated.

 3. How does the laser work?
The laser delivers a prescribed dose of energy into the vein.  The laser effectively coagulates the blood in efforts to diminish and eliminate the blood flow.  When the vein is not capable of working it will be reabsorbed by the body.

4. How many treatments will be needed?
Due to gravity and greater blood pressure below the heart, 2-4 treatments are usually required depending on vein diameter.  For facial veins one or two treatments are necessary.

5. Are there risks?
Vein removal is a simple and relatively quick procedure with the biggest risk being blistering.  This is uncommon but as long as the blister is treated with over the counter products like Neosporin they should resolve with no lasting effects.  It is highly recommended that the client doesn’t pick at the vein or potential blister.  Any picking could result in scarring.
